Guitarra romana (Roman guitar) by Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos (Mexico)
Translation: Laura

Bajo un manto de estrellas,
Under a cloak of stars
Roma bella aparece.
Rome beautiful shows up
Serenata de amor (1),
Love serenata
con profunda pasión,
with deep passion
yo te vengo a cantar.
I come to sing to you

Una hermosa fontana, (2)
A beautiful fountaine
con mil rayos de luz.
with a thousand rays of light
Oh! guitarra romana,
oh! roman guitar
acompañame tú.
be my companion

Estribillo 1
Suena, suena mi guitarra,
plays, plays my guitar
mientras lloro de emoción.
while I cry with emotion
Roma tiene los encantos,
Rome has the charm
que me inspira mi canción.
that my song inspires (to me)

Estribillo 2
Roma, Roma de mi vida,
Rome, Rome of my life
Roma, Roma de mi amor,
Rome, Rome of my love
No me importa la distancia,
I dont mind the distance
si estás en mi corazón.
when you are in my heart

Estribillo 1

Estribillo 2

(1) Serenat is an italian word that in spanish means: music in the street or in the open air and during the night to celebrate someone (Source: Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española http://www.rae.es/). Generally, men sing serenatas to women, specially in Mexico.

(2) Fontana is also an italian word. Although it aslo exists in Spanish language, a more common name would be "fuente".
